A vote on the bingo bill was delayed today after the bill's sponsor said there were not enough votes for passage, and Thursday is the last day of the legislative session.
Gov. Bob Riley said in a statement it was too early to say the bill is dead, but sponsor Marcel Black told the Birmingham News he believes the bill is dead for the year.
Bingo has been a prominent topic in this year's session — and the Senate's passage of the bill, sponsored by Sen. Roger Bedford, D-Russellville, has even led to an FBI investigation into possible corruption associated with the bill.
