Neal, Miller set for area tourneys

The W.S. Neal girls are guaranteed at least a No. 3 seed in next week’s area tournament, while the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers will host their area tournament beginning Tuesday.
The teams faced each other Tuesday in a game that found the T.R. Miller on top of W.S. Neal, 17-3.
Earlier this week, the W.S. Neal girls got a big home victory over B.C. Rain, winning 14-1 in 4 and a half innings Monday, with the game halted for the 10-run rule.
Kaitlin Hadaway earned the win, pitching four innings and giving up no runs. She struck out nine batters and gave up one hit and two walks.
Jade Danley pitched the top of the fifth inning, giving up one hit and one run with one strikeout.
Lauren Boatwright led at the plate, going 1-2 with a double and two walks for three runs scored. Raley Boggs was also 1-2 with a double and a walk. Amanda Crawford and Autumn Hinote also had one hit each.
T.R. Miller will host Bayside Academy at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the opener of the 3A area 1 tournament. Coach Greg White said his team is 6-0 in the area and won the area championship and the right to host.
The 4A area 1 tournament for W.S. Neal is set for April 28-29 at UMS Wright.
