JDCC Warhawk baseball gets wins

The Jefferson Davis Community College baseball team compiled a record of 3-2 in their recent five-game stretch.
The Warhawks defeated Jefferson State before taking two of four with Bishop State.
With the wins, JDCC improved to 15-24 overall and to 9-13 in conference play.
JDCC 8, Jefferson State 4
JDCC used a five-run fourth inning to key an 8-4 win and improve to 13-22.
The Warhawks and Jeff State were tied 1-1 until scoring five runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-1 lead.
With the lead cut to 6-4, JDCC scored two in the eighth inning to get the win.
Xavier Cunningham was 3-for-4 with one RBI and Taylor Register was 2-for-2 with four RBIs and one homerun.
Ryne Phillips and Harry Haring were both 2-for-4 with Haring having one RBI.
Ryne Drummonds, Stephen Scoggins, Matthew Watkins, and Bill Hambrick all had hits in the win.
Haring earned the win on the mound going two innings and walking one and striking out one.
JDCC 5, Bishop State 3
After losing game one 7-3 (stats unavailable) the Warhawks responded with a 5-3 over Bishop in their next meeting.
JDCC trailed 3-2 heading into the top of the ninth and scored three runs in the inning to get the win by two.
Phillips was 4-for-5 at the plate and Blake Long was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
Drummonds earned the win on the mound as he went five innings.
JDCC 4, Bishop State 3
Once again, JDCC trailed heading into the ninth inning before scoring two in the inning to turn a 3-2 deficit into a 4-3 win.
Watkins, Long, and Register all had doubles in the win with Cunningham, Drummonds, Long, Haring, and Register having RBIs.
Michael King earned the win going the complete game nine innings and allowing one earned run on four hits, walked one and struck out five.
Bishop State 8, JDCC 5
After the Warhawks tied the game at 5-5 in the sixth inning, Bishop scored three in the bottom of the inning to win 8-5.
Scoggins was 2-for-4 with one RBI while Cunningham, Zach Payne, and Register all had two hits in the loss.
Shane Ikner took the loss going 5 2/3 innings and allowing eight runs, all earned, on 10 hits, walked seven and struck out nine.
Thursday at home against Enterprise, JDCC lost 3-2.
JDCC head coach Darrell Blevins said a solo homerun for Enterprise in the top of the 11th inning was the difference in the game.
The loss dropped the Warhawks to 15-25 overall and to 9-14 in conference play.
JDCC is set to take on Enterprise in a doubleheader today at home at noon.
Blevins said the weather may have an impact though as forecast were not looking good but would try and get the games played Saturday.
