T.R. Miller Tiger tennis teams fall in sectionals

The T.R. Miller Tiger tennis teams ended their season at their sectional meets last week as the girls ended the season with an 11-2 record and the boys finished 7-5-1.
Smith said the boys were just as determined and they all used the section tournament to display their best tennis.
In girls action, Alvarado lost to Providence 4-6, 6-4, and 6-2 in the No. 1 position  and Li lost to Houston Academy in the semifinals 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 after having a bye.
Mullis lost to Providence 6-4, 4-6, and 7-5 and Reeves lost to Providence 6-1 and 6-2.
In the No. 5 slot, Laferria Hetherington lost to Providence 6-1 and 6-1 and Elizabeth Nelson lost to Houston Academy 6-0 and 6-1 after a first round bye.
In doubles, Li and Hetherington lost to Houston Academy 6-1 and 6-2 and Mullis and Nelson lost to Providence 6-4 and 6-0.
In No. 3 doubles, Reeves and DeAundra Hetherington defeated Cottage Hill 7-5, 6-3, and 6-4 before losing to Bayside 6-4 and 6-2.
In boys action, No. 1 Nick Dorso lost to Providence 6-2 and 6-2 and Nick Moore lost to Cottage Hill 4-6, 6-4, and 6-2.
Bryce Wilcox lost to Houston Academy 6-1 and 6-1 after a first round bye and Taylor Terry advanced to the finals against Houston Academy before losing 6-2 and 6-2.
Terry defeated Providence 6-1 and 6-1 and Bayside 6-1 and 6-2 in the first and second rounds respectively in the No. 4 slot.
In the No. 5 slot, Brandon Nelson lost to Cottage Hill 6-3 and 6-2 and Rigby lost to Cottage Hill 6-3 and 7-5.
In doubles, Moore and Dorso lost to Houston Academy 6-2 and 6-1.
Wilcox and Terry lost to Houston Academy 6-1 and 6-1 in the No. two slot while Michael Kast and Nelson lost to Cottage Hill 6-0 and 6-2 in the No. 3 slot.
