Luverne Grace Fillmore Morton

Mrs. Luverne Grace Fillmore Morton, 89, of Eric Odom Road in the Barnett Crossroads Community, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010 at her residence after a brief illness.
She was a native and life-long resident of Escambia County and was a member of the Canaan Freewill Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a retired seamstress from Vanity Fair.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Morton and two brothers, Bill Fillmore and Jerry Fillmore.
She is survived by one son, John Morton of Brewton; one daughter, Charlotte Grant of Brewton; two brothers, Jessie Fillmore of Brewton and Robert Fillmore of Atmore; two sisters, Sang Hayles and Jane Davis, both of Atmore; three grandchildren, Angelia Messmer, Chad Morton and Tonya Ragan; and five great-grandchildren, Taylor Messmer, Alyssa Messer, Andrew Messmer, Aaron Morton and Kristen Morton.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral home with the Rev. Grady Palmer and Speaker Kevin Fillmore officiating. Burial followed in the New Bethlehem Cemetery in the Barnett Crossroads Community with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
