Lecola Johnson Jr.

Mr. Lecola Johnson Jr., 62, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2010, in an Atlanta medical facility. He was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School where he was active in band. He was a veteran of the armed forces having been drafted in 1967 following his graduation. He was a trained combat engineer where he served a tour of duty in Vietnam, Stuttgart, Germany and in Alaska. He was a graduate of Reid State Technical College, where he was an honor student in the auto body repair course of study. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lecola Johnson and Sadie Davis Johnson.

He is survived by a brother, Homer (Mamie) Hamilton of Brewton; a nephew, Frederick Hamilton of Mableton, Ga.; four nieces, Wanda (Bill) Littles of Brewton, Carolyn Hamilton Newsom, Pat (Thomas) Bellamy and Marie Hamilton, all of Atlanta, Ga.; a first cousin, Christine (Johnnie) Davis of McWilliams; and a host of cousins, great-nieces and nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. at Baptist Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Eric T. Andrews officiating. Burial followed at Baptist Hill Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
