Mrs. Kate M. Spears, 77, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, in Houston, Texas. She was a faithful member of First St. Siloam Baptist Church and served in the Brewton City School System for 26 years.

She is survived by three children, Kathy (Albert) Eatmon, Cheryl Spears and Davey (Charlene) Spears, all of Houston; her mother, Pearlean Chappell of Brewton; a sister, Hazel Chappell of Brewton; two brothers, Jerry Chappell of Brewton, and Eddie (Rethal) Chappell of Philadelphia, Penn.; two grandchildren, Taisha Williams of Dallas, Texas, and Jazmine of Houston; and many friends and family members.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m. at First Saint Siloam Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Cheatum officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery with Presley-Fluker directing.
