Just in time for W.S. Neal High School’s homecoming, the weather has finally turned into cooler football weather.

The school has some plans for the “Rock the Raiders” celebration, and everybody is working to make it a successful day, school officials said.

“We are focusing on the details for homecoming,” said high school principal, Patty Frazier. “The classes are working really hard on building their floats for the parade. This is always a great day with a lot of events planned, including crowning the homecoming queen, Megan Andrews.”

The day will begin at 8 a.m. with floats lining up to be judged before the actual parade lineup begins later in the day.

From 9 to 10 a.m., the Alumni Room will be open and at 10 a.m. the alumni will have its pep rally in the O.C. Weaver Auditorium. At the same time, the homecoming court will meet in Mr. Jerkins’ classroom for pictures, followed by a walk-through at the alumni pep rally.

W. S. Neal Elementary School will be dismissed at 11:40 a.m.; W.S. Neal Middle School at 11:45 a.m. and at noon for the high school classes.

The W.S. Neal High School Softball Booster Club will be selling ribeye sandwiches beginning at noon.

The Pepsi wagon will be set up in the side (south) parking lot of the school. Sandwiches will be $4 and drinks will be $1. All proceeds will go to W.S. Neal High School Softball.

The floats will line up at 12:30 p.m. to start the parade, which begins at 1 p.m. from W.S. Neal High School on Andrew Jackson Street.

The parade will travel to U.S. 29, turn right on to Forrest Avenue, continue by Freds and down Forrest Avenue to Magnolia Super Foods on Snowden Street where it will disband behind the store.

The night’s activities begin with the football field’s gates being opened at 5:30 p.m. and homecoming pictures being taken on the football field.

A homecoming pre-game ceremony will take place at 6:25 p.m. followed by the game against B.C. Rain High School at 7 p.m.

The half-time entertainment will be performed by the bands from W.S. Neal and B.C. Rain.
