Mr. John Henry Finklea, 99, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010 in a local hospital. He was a native of Monroeville and had lived in Brewton at the Meadows for the last year and a half. He was a member of the Monroeville First Baptist Church and an employee of Alabama Power for 47 years.

He is survived by his son, John (Deloris) Finklea of Brewton; a nephew, Bill (Kay) Taylor of Silver Hill; a sister, Nell (Charles) Skinner of Monroeville; two grandchildren, John Jeffrey Finklea and Sarilyn Snead; and four great-grandchildren, John, Amanda, Heather and Hunter.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 26, at 3 p.m. at Monroeville First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Finklea and the Rev. Micah Gandy officiating. Burial followed at Johnson Memorial Gardens at Pineville with Johnson Funeral Home directing. Memorials may be made to the mission cause of choice.
