Jack D. Holland

Mr. Jack D. Holland, 86, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 in a Dothan hospital. He was a native and long-time resident of Brewton before moving to Columbia in 1970. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Columbia, the Columbia Lions Club and the Columbia Historical Society. He was retired from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers as an electrician. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucy Mathers Holland; a grandson, Stefan Holland, a brother, Marvin Holland, and his parents, Marvin Holland and Bessie Mae Jernigan Holland.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Giles Holland of Columbia, a daughter, Ginger Holland Armstrong of Easley, S.C.; three sons, Jack Thomas (Colleen) Holland of Weaver, Earl (Susan) Holland of Dothan and Roy Holland of Cardendale; two step-sons, Rodney Ray (Gwen) Rollins of West Palm Beach, and Johnny Rollins of Columbia; a brother, Bill Holland of Valdosta, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 9, at the First Baptist Church of Columbia with the Rev. Randall Johnson and the Rev. Justin Holland officiating. Burial followed at Columbia City Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Strickland officiating and Holman Headland Mortuary directing.
