Mrs. Christine Johnson Evans, 82, of Terry Avenue in East

Brewton, died Thursday, May 12, 2011 in a local hospital after a brief illness. She was a native and life long resident of Escambia County. She was a member of East Brewton Methodist Church and a retired clerk from East Brewton

Pharmacy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Seth Rankin Evans Sr.; a son, Seth Rankin Evans Jr.; two sisters, Mattie Johnson Long and Corrie Lee Johnson Crawford; and three brothers, David Johnson, Edward Johnson and Teddy Lee Johnson.

She is survived by two daughters, Wanda (James) Dewberry of Gulfport, Miss., and Elizabeth Mathews of Milton, Fla.; three grandchildren, Kristine M. Knowles and Todd A. Knowles, both of Milton, Fla., and Seth R. Evans of El Doredo, Kan.; two great-grandchildren; a step-granddaughter, Misty Price; a sister, Jessie Mae Godwin of Brewton; a sister-in-law, Maxine Johnson of Flomaton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 16, 2011 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in May Creek Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
