Charles Van “Charlie” Kilgore

Mr. Charles Van “Charlie” Kilgore, 70, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at his Flomaton residence. He was a native of Oklahoma City, Okla., and had been a resident of Flomaton for the past 35 years, coming from Odessa, Texas. He owned and operated CharCo for a number of years and was the co-founder of the Alabama Oilman’s Golf Invitational. He was of the Pentecostal faith. He was preceded in death by his son, Randall Clay Kilgore; a brother, Carl R. Kilgore; a sister, Patricia Burns; and a grandson, Brandon Jones.
He is survived by his mother, Alma Lewis of Sedalia, Mo.; his wife, Daphne Ward Huss Kilgore of Flomaton; two sons, Jeff (Mary) Kilgore of Mobile, and Joey (Darlene) Huss of Flomaton; three daughters, Sandra Jones of Pensacola, Jennifer (Todd) Buckley of Canoe, and Pamela (James) Jones of Flomaton; one sister, Darlene Stevenson of Sedalia, Mo.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and special friends, Garland Chaudron and David McIlwain.
Visitation will be held at Craver’s Funeral Home chapel on Thursday, May 19, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, May 20, at 10 a.m. at Green Acres Memorial Gardens with Garland Chaudron officiating and Craver’s Funeral Home directing. Active pallbearers will be John Watson, Dale Chavers, Josh Caraway, Stacey Godwin, Woody Seevers and James Porter. Honorary pallbearers will be Garland Chaudron, William Dudley, David McIlwain and Greg McCall.
