Mrs. Edith Elizabeth Collier Blackburn, 81, of Brewton, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at her residence after an extended illness. She was a native and former resident of Montgomery, and a longtime resident of Brewton. She attended Pilgrim Chapel Church and was retired from Dollar General Store.
She is survived by her husband, Leslie Paul Blackburn of Brewton; a son, Joe Edwards of East Brewton; two daughters, Gertrude Wesson of Wetumpka, and Leola Tew of Notasulga; a step-son, Michael Wayne Blackburn of Atmore; three step-daughters, Paula Hall and Linda McCall, both of Atmore and Patricia Burr of Frisco City; two foster chidren, Sonja Nelson and Forest Smith, both of Brewton; a brother, Leo Collier of Prattville; a sister, Mary Ann Hunt of Prattville; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 26, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Fred White
officiating. Burial will follow in Weaver Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
