Raymond ‘Nuke’ Thomas

Mr. Raymond ‘Nuke’ Thomas, 57, died Aug. 14, 2011. He was a resident of several places, including Huntsville, before moving back to Brewton. He attended the Brewton City School System and joined the U.S. Marine Corps serving around the world. He later attended Reid State Technical College and obtained a degree in brick masonry. He was a member of the Second St. Siloam Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gillie Gross; step-father, Eddie Lee Brown; his brother-in-law, Melvin Hall; sister-in-law, Mary Tucker Thomas; and a niece, Lakesha Thomas Bizzell.
He is survived by his mother, Lois Brown of Brewton; three brothers, Neal (Joanna) Thomas, Eddie Lee Thomas, and Morris Thomas, all of Brewton; two sisters, Linda (Steve) Roby of Baltimore, Md.. and Clara (Henry) Sellers of Stockbridge, Ga.; a step-brother, Leon (Mary) Stallworth of Brewton; two aunts, Sylvia Thomas of Brewton, and Lula Cannon of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a host of other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 20, at 11 a.m. at Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church. He was buried at Piney Grove Cemetery on Kirkland Road with Christian Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
