Mrs. Madie Clifton Madden, 77, of Appleton Road died Tuesday, September 13, 2011 in a local hospital after a brief illness. She was a native and life long resident of Escambia County, and a member of New Home Freewill Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, a foster parent to many foster children through the years, and a retired school bus driver from W.S. Neal School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Clayton ‘Bo’ Madden.
She is survived by two sons, Craig (Vicky) Madden and James (Cathy) Grantham, both of Brewton; a daughter, Lawana (Arlan) Shelly of Brewton; a brother, Drewey (Evelyn) Clifton of Brewton; seven grandchildren, Gaylan (Angie) Shelly, Udana (Tommy) Singletary, Tylan (Britney) Shelly, Hunter Madden, Megan Madden, Courtney Grantham and Jordan Grantham; nine great-grandchildren, great grandchildren, Valen Shelly, Drew Shelly, Alana Shelly, Austin Singletary, Alexus (AJ) Singletary, Devon Singletary, Braylan Shelly, Breah Shelly and Brooklyn Shelly.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 15, from 6 until 8: p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 16, at 10 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Bruley officiating. Burial will follow at Weaver Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
