Dorothy Carolyn Pate Dewberry

Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Carolyn Pate Dewberry,80, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011 in a local nursing facility after a brief illness. She was a native and life long resident of Escambia County. She was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church, a 1948 graduate of W.S. Neal High School, a former member of the Eastern Star, a former tax preparer for H & R Block and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Dewberry, adopted son, Tony Peters, a brother, Lewis Pate, a sister, Ethel Pate and two step-great grandchildren. She is survived by a son, Ricky Odom of East Brewton; two grandchildren, Candi McArthur of Brewton and Richard Odom of Baldwin County; two great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a former daughter-in-law, Amanda Odom of Brewton; four step-children, James Dewberry and Donnie Dewberry, both of Mississippi, Marilyn Stickles of Nebraska, and Judy Pate of Riverview; three brothers, Jamie Pate of Riverview, Harvey Pate of Brewton, and Earl Pate of Baldwin County; seven step-great grandchildren; 18 step-great-great grandchildren; two step-great-great-great grandchildren; three adopted grandchildren; and five adopted great grandchildren. Graveside funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. at Fort Crawford Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Greer officiating and Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
