William Harvey ‘Pete’ Pate

Mr. William Harvey “Pete” Pate, 77, of Foshee Road, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011 in a Pensacola, Fla., health care facility.

He was a native and life-long resident of Escambia County and was a retired guid from Holman Prison. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the National Guard. He was a member of the Catawba Springs Baptist Church and was an avid fisherman, hunter and Alabama fan. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Wanda Pate and Carol Pate.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Ann Wells Pate of Brewton; a son, John Michael (Phyllis) Peters of Dothan; a daughter, Krystal (Larry) Hall of Pensacola, Fla., two brothers, Jamie (Merlean) Pate of East Brewton and Earl Pate of Mobile; sisters-in-law, Pat Golden of Brrewton and Imogene Overby of Bay Minette; four grandchildren, Gabrielle Hall, Marc (Andrea) Peters, Josh (Hope) Peters, Matt (Kristi) Peters; five great-grandchildren, Cooper Peters, Camden Peters, Matia Grace Peters, Max Peters and Jansen Peters.

Visitation was held Dec. 27, 2011 from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Edwards and Dr. Steve Yuhasz officiating.

Burial followed in the Damascus Cemetery at Douglas Chapel with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.
