Mr. Richard Byrd, 81, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 1012 at a local hospital. He was a native of McCullough, and a resident of Flomaton for most of his life. He was a veteran of the Korean War and attended the Baptist church.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Byrd of Flomaton; two step-sons, Leon Johnson of Flomaton, and Wayne McBride of Dallas, Texas; a stepdaughter, Aimee Premeau of Dallas; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bob Byrd and Jerry Byrd, both of California; and Eubie Byrd of Perdido; and two sisters, Euline Bryars of Mobile, Jean Branton of San Bernardino, Calif.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Hogg officiating. Burial followed at the Flomaton Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.
