Donald Mack ‘Cracker’ Ausburn

Mr. Donald Mack ‘Cracker’ Ausburn, 68, died Monday, January 23, 2012 after a brief illness. He was a native of Anniston, and a long time resident of East Brewton. Mr. Ausburn was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the Peanut Field Hunting Club, past president of the Union Hall Local 941, a former Captain of the East Brewton Auxillary Police Department, Brewton American Legion, and he was retired from Jefferson Smurfit with more than 40 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Brown Ausburn of East Brewton; four sons, James ‘Sput’ Freeman, Kenny Freeman, Bobby (Debra) Freeman and Darryl (Dawn) Ball, all of Brewton; a daughter, Paula (James) Neal of Enterprise; three brothers, Huey (Beth) Ausburn of Tyler, Texas, Charlie (Luverne) Ausburn of New Jersey, and Wayne (Barbara) Ausburn of Georgia; two sisters, Claudine (Donnie) Sellers and Caroline (Raymond) Kelley, both of Georgia; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Adam Armstrong officiating. Burial followed at Brown Cemetery with military honors and Wiliams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
