Cumbie J. Booker

Cumbie J. “Silverfox” Booker, 68, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at his residence in Baker. He was a native of Munson, Fla., and was a lifelong resident of the area. He attended Escambia Farms School and was a graduate of W.S. Neal High School. He worked in the oil fields and loved to dirt track race where he earned his nick-name. He was preceded in death by his father, Cumbie A. Booker.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Connie Booker; two sons, Jeff (Miranda) Booker and Jared Booker, all of Baker; a stepson, David (Ashley) Mathis of Flomaton; a daughter, Donna Smith of Jay, Fla.; three stepdaughters, April (Timbo) Cofield of Century, Fla., Heather (Todd) Smith of Brewton, and Jodie (Brian) Grant of McDavid, Fla.; his mother, Mary Ola Jones of Pace, Fla.; a brother, Joe Booker of Baker; his sisters, Mary Jones and Rebecca Priest of Texas; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 31, at Bullard Church from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 1, at 2 p.m. at the Bullard Church with burial in the church cemetery with Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home of Crestview directing.
