Mattie Lou Nelson Evans

Mrs. Mattie Lou Nelson Evans, 74, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at a northeast Alabama health care facility after an extended illness. She was a native of Conecuh County,  and a long time resident of Castleberry, prior to moving to Weaver, five months ago.  She was a retired care taker, and attended New Beginnings Church.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Mattie Nelson; a brother, Clayton Nelson; a sister, Barbara Langley; and a niece, Sabrina Rabon.
She is survived by a son, Rodgers M. “Mish” (Ellen) Evans of Weaver; a daughter, Angela Evans Salter of East Brewton; three brothers; Silas E. (Eugenia) Nelson of Stapleton, Jimmy Nelson of Adams Wis., and Alan Nelson of Castleberry; two sisters, Elaine (Doyle) Johnson of Excel, and Deborah Jo (Ernest) Rabon of Castleberry; three grandchildren, Rodgers Neal Evans, Mary Lynn Evans and Travis Lee Salter; three great-grandchildren, Jonathan Blake Evans, Abby Gail Evans, and Tanner Salter.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 11 at 10 a.m. at New Beginnings Church with the Rev. Bo Bell officiating.  Burial followed in Green Acres Memorial Gardens with Cravers Funeral Home directing.
