Lula Mae Lacy Johnson

Lula Mae Lacy Johnson, 77, of Jay, Fla., died Saturday, October 13, 2012 in a Pensacola, Fla. hospital. She  was a native of Jay, and a lifetime member of the community.  During some of her working years, she worked as a cashier at the Flomaton Jr. Food Store and she was of the Baptist faith.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Ila Mae Nelson Lacy; her daughter, Glenda Mae Jerkins; a grandson, Frankie “Trucker” Carnley Jr.; her sisters, Willodene Lisenby, Betty Cofield, Lucille Dixon Lisenby and Luverne Slate, all of Jay.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin R. Johnson of Jay; a daughter, Rita (Billy) Croley of Brewton; brothers, Wayne (Gail) Lacy of Brewton, Jerry (Judy) Lacy and Garry (Adonna) Lacy, both of Jay; sisters, Eloise (Ed) Muse of Bratt, Fla., Faye (Jimmy) Brantley of Flomaton, Janice (Wally) Phillips of Enterprise; a granddaughter, Melita (Lavon) White of Flomaton; great grandchildren, Zac (Alex) White and Kegan White, both of Flomaton;  and great-great-grandchild, Zhane White.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 15, at 2 p.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Cora Cemetery in Jay, with Flomaton Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Tim Johnson, Jim Johnson, Shannon Phillips, Jeffery Lacy, Tony Williams, Benny Cofield and Tony Cofield.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of her 1954 Jay High School graduating class.
