Samuel Dudley Owens

Mr. Samuel Dudley Owens, 77, of Appleton Road, died Monday, July 29, 2013 at his residence after a brief illness. He was a former resident of Jay, Fla., and a long time resident of Brewton. He was a member of Pilgrim Chapel Church and attended Jay High School. He served in the U.S. Navy, and was retired from Jefferson-Smurfitt with 33 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Burnham Owens; and a brother, Jerry Owens.

He is survived by a sister-in-law, Judy (Harry) Dixon of Brewton; several nieces and nephews, including Laura Dixon (Steve) Blackmon, Joey (Jennifer) Dixon, Heath Owens, Shon Owens, Ashlee Owens (Ethan) Bush, J.B. Owens, Heather Owens Cooper; a number of great-nieces and great-nephews; and other relatives, including Debbie (Mike) Roberson and Doris Wood.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 31, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 1, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred White and the Rev. Aaron Smith officiating.
