Lafayette ‘Buddy’ Fantroy

Mr. Lafayette “Buddy” Fantroy, 61, of Evergreen died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at his residence. He was a member of the Fairview Church of Christ and was a 1970 graduate of Thurgood Marshall High School. He was a paper machine operator and Lab Supervisor at the Container Corporation of America where he retired in 2002. He was an avid outdoors man who loved farming, gardening, fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivy and Matilda McCants Fantroy;, six uncles and five aunts.
He is survived by his wife Christine Fantroy; five children, Keith (Betty) Abbington of Evergreen, Alphonso Abbington, Marcus (Denise) Abbington of Hunstville, Ala., Steven Abbington of Evergreen and Nuki (Randy) Fantroy Palmer of Washington, D.C.; (17) grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; one brother, Ronald (Minnie) L. Fantroy of Evergreen; two sisters, Reva McCrary of Evergreen, Jacqueline Lowe of Manchester, Ga.; his mother- in- law, Catherine Hill of Gary W. Va; a special uncle, Richard Webb of Pulaski, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, special family, friends and his church family.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Fairview Church of Christ with pastor, Brother Ronald Fantroy and eulogist, Brother Darron Fantroy. Burial followed at the Fairview Church of Christ Cemetery, Evergreen with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
