Mrs. Helen Huie Wilson, 87, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 in Pensacola, Fla.

She was a lifelong member of Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church and was active in the church’s senior choir, missionary board and other activities. She was a member of the 1947 graduating class from Weathers High School (later named Thurgood Marshall High School) in Conecuh County. During her working career she was a teacher in Fruitdale, Ala., a teacher’s aide at Conecuh County High School and Lyeffion High School, and worked more than a decade as a seamstress at Judy Bond Clothing Factory.

She is survived by her daughter, Marion Wilson (Osker) Spicer of Memphis, Tenn.; a grandson, Aki (Wendy) Spicer of New York City; a brother, Horace (Verla) Huie of Pensacola; a sister, Frances McArthur of Pensacola; A step-great grandson, Max Wolf of New York City; and many nieces, nephews, and other close relatives and friends.

Services were held Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist church of Evergreen with the Rev. Duron K. Odom officiating. Interment followed at Sandy Grove Church Cemetery of Evergreen with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
