Johnny Steven Scott

Brewton

 

Johnny Steven Scott, 62, of Escambia Avenue, Brewton, passed away Wed., Jan. 20, 2016, in a Pensacola hospice facility after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held on Sat., Jan. 23, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Thompson officiating.

Interment followed in Ridge Road Baptist Church Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He was a native of Fernandina Beach, Fla., and a long time resident of Brewton. He was a member of the Full Gospel Community Church and a 1971 graduate of W.S. Neal High School.

He served in the U.S Navy Seabees for eight years. He was a former employee of T.R. Miller Company and was the maintenance supervisor at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Scott.

He is survived by his father, Johnny V. (Shirley) Scott of East Brewton; wife, Shelli Tunstall Scott of Brewton; three sons, Johnny Edward (Denise) Scott of Dothan, Dustin (Jasmine) Mallet of Beaman, Iowa and Michael Mallet of Troy; two daughters, Katie Joy (Michael) Cheatham and Erin Mallet, both of Grand Bay; two sisters, Cheryl (Robert) Knowles of Goodway, Ala. and Mary (Carl) Dunn of Crestview, Fla.; four grandchildren, Makayla Cheatham, Michael Cheatham, Emery Bae Scott and Dylan Abercrombie; mother-in-law, Elaine Turnstall and a number of nephews.

Claude Alford

East Brewton

 

Claude Alford, 80, of Dailey Street, East Brewton, passed away Wed., Jan. 20, 2016, in a Texas medical facility after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Sun., Jan. 24, at 2:30 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Watt officiating.

Interment followed in Damascus Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He was the owner of Tri State Timber Company.

He is survived by his wife, Etta Jean Alford of East Brewton; son, Ronald (Yvonne) Alford of East Brewton; daughters, Rhonda (Johnny) Griffin of Spring, Texas and Delaine Brown of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Patty) Alford of Daphne, Jennifer (Fred) Hartensteiner of Houston, Texas, John (Cindi) Griffin of Montgomery, Texas, Brooke (Chris) Cain and Farrah Gibson, both of Brewton, and Chuck (Kelli) Riddle of Auburn; 10 great-grandchildren, Kimber and Ainsley Alford, Addie and Ellie Hartensteiner, Presley Griffin, Kayla and Colton Aurora and Liam Gibson and Charlee Ann Riddle; sister, Carolyn Feagin of Brooklyn; and two sisters-in-law, Maxine (Henry) Hooks of East Brewton and Eloise (Tom) Hoops of El Cajon, Calif.

Esther “Maw Maw” Estelle Trawick Ellis

Castleberry

 

Esther “Maw Maw” Estelle Trawick Ellis, 83, of Castleberry, passed away Fri., Jan. 22, 2016, in a local hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Mon., Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. at the Castleberry First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Darby and the Rev. Chris Turner officiating.

Interment followed in Buffington Cemetery in Castleberry with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

She was a native and life long resident of Conecuh County. She was a devoted member of the Castleberry First United Methodist Church and worked at both Judy Bond in Brewton and Knud Neilson in Evergreen.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Ellis Ezell and Betty Jo Ellis Dyer, both of Castleberry; son, Jesse Wayne (Susie) Ellis of Castleberry; brother, Raymond Trawick of East Brewton; six grandsons, Ken Roberts, Patrick Roberts, Joseph Ellis, Michael Ellis, Ervin Joel Fail IV and Wade Ellis Fail; nine great-grandchildren, Alyssa Roberts, Ronnie Roberts, Jacob Ellis, Kaitlin Ellis, Naomi Ellis, James Ellis, Kent Roberts, Christopher Fail and Madelyne Fail; and other family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Kenneth Weaver Ellis; her parents, Joseph and Pearlie Irene Blackmon Trawick; and sisters, Myrtle Magdaline Trawick and Deanie Pearl Trawick.

Emma Ruth Smith

Brewton

 

Emma Ruth Smith, 56, passed away Tues., Jan. 19, 2016, at her Brewton residence.

Funeral services were held on Sat., Jan. 23, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Buford Wiggins officiating.

She was born in Atmore and had been a long-time resident of the Brewton area. She was a graduate of Escambia County High School in Atmore and worked in management in the fast food industry. She attended Divine Temple.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Mary Etta Watson; and two nephews, C.J. Watson and Logan Gray.

She is survived by a son, Scotty (Adriene) Watson of Brewton; daughter, Mary Jessica (Juan) Javier of East Brewton; brother, Clinton (Chrissie) Watson of Brewton; sister, Barbara Watson of East Brewton; sister-in-law, Glenda Lee of Evergreen and Angie Watson; the father of her children, John Smith of Brewton; four grandchildren, Tyler Watson, Taylor Watson, Isabella Javier and Jayden Javier; four nephews, Dean Watson, Shane Watson, Michael Watson and Carl Faircloth; six nieces, Christy Watson, Catrina Watson, Carly Watson, Treasa Faircloth, Tonya Faircloth Wood and Cheyenne Watson; and several great nephews, great nieces; two great-great nephews and a great-great niece.

Darrell Wayne Harris deLlacer, 47, passed away on Sun., Jan. 17, 2016.

He was born and raised in Brewton. He was a current resident of Spanish Fort.

He is survived by his mother, Judy deLlacer of Spanish Fort; brother, Amaro (Amy) deLlacer of Spanish Fort; niece, Taylor deLlacer of Spanish Fort; several aunts and uncles, Tommy (Sandra) Solomon, Gloria (Joe) Massengale, Brenda (Tommy) Smith, David (Tracy) Solomon and a very special aunt, Becky Solomon; along with many cousins, Jena Howell, Donna (Matthew) Allen,  Erik Massengale, Chris and Tracy Smith, Jayme (Shawn) Tillman and Nicholas Solomon; his schnauzer, Emmy Lou; and many other relatives and friends.
