Thomas Augustus ‘Tommy’ Johnston

East Brewton

 

Thomas Augusta “Tommy” Johnston, 85, of Thompson Street, East Brewton, passed away Fri., Jan. 29, 2016, at his son’s residence after a brief illness.

Visitation will be held today, Feb. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Thurs., Feb. 4, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with with the Rev. George Weaver and Speaker Bernie Raines officiating.

Interment will follow in Brooklyn Baptist Church Cemetery, Brooklyn, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He was a native of Conecuh County and a life long resident of East Brewton. He was a member of the East Brewton First United Methodist Church, a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired warehouse supervisor from Fluor Daniels Construction Company with 37 years of service.

He was involved in Boy Scout activities and helped to organize the pee wee football program in East Brewton.

He is survived by two sons, Stan (Laura) Johnston of Satsuma and Steven (Kristy) Johnston of East Brewton; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Ruth Jones Johnston; and daughter,  Suzanne Johnston Hastings.

Thomas Wayne Ikner

Evergreen

 

Thomas Wayne Ikner, 67, of Evergreen, passed away on Thurs., Jan. 28, 2016, in a Pensacola hospital.

Visitation will be held today, Feb. 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville.

Funeral services will be held  Thurs., Feb. 4, at 2 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jasper Davis officiating.

Interment will follow at Arkadelphia Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home directing.

He was a former resident of Monroeville and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Bowles Assembly of God Church and was retired from Georgia-Pacific.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cheslie Monroe Ikner and Leesie Maurine Smith Ikner and five brothers, Carlton  Ikner, Ray Ikner, Winston Ikner, Larry Ikner and Kevin Ikner.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Salter Ikner of Evergreen; a brother, David Ikner of Leroy; stepson, Keith Adams of Atlanta, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Amy Booker of Evergreen and Tracy Bayles of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter-in-law Michelle Hart of Brewton; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

 

Gary L. Peek

Flomaton

 

Gary L. Peek, 59, formerly of Andalusia, passed away Mon., Feb. 1, 2016, at his residence in Flomaton.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Sat., Feb. 6, 2016 at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Pat Carden officiating.Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Peek of Flomaton; sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and John Joyner of Dozier; brother, Warren Peek of Dozier; brother and sister-in-law, John and Barbara Peek of Andalusia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions are made in his memory to the Methodist Men’s Ministry of Brewton.
