 James William ‘Lucky’ Tolbert

Berrydale, Fla.

James William “Lucky” Tolbert, 86, of the Berrydale Community passed away on April 27, 2016.

Funeral services were conducted on Sun., May 1, with Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton directing.

Burial with military and masonic honors followed at Berrydale Community Cemetery.

He was born in Atmore and lived most of his life in the Berrydale Community.

He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and member of Hadji Shrine Temple.

He was also a member of the Berrydale Community of Christ Church. He will be lovingly remembered as a loving husband, wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Roberts Tolbert; two daughters, Gwen (Ray) Gillman and Angie (Joey) Moffett; two sons, Timothy R. “Turkey” (Brenda) Tolbert and James Steve Tolbert; eight grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

 

Royce Franklin Beasley

Brewton

Royce Franklin Beasley, 61, of Travis Road in Brewton, passed away Thurs. April 28, 2016, in a local hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Tues., May 3, at 10 a.m. at the Ridge Road Baptist Church with Bro. Lee Cadenhead officiating.

Interment followed in Cooper Cemetery in Brewton Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He was a native and long time resident of Brewton, and a former resident of Georgia before moving back to Brewton in 2003.

He was a faithful member of the Ridge Road Baptist Church and a former employee of T.R. Miller Mill Company with a number of years of service. He was the former pastor of the Grace Baptist Church in East Brewton,  and he ministered weekly at a local nursing facility and other assisted living facilities. He loved and enjoyed the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Wilson Beasley of Brewton; son, Riley (girlfriend-Katie Glenn) Beasley of Flomaton; daughter, Nicole Jordan of Brewton; two brothers, Russell (Gerald) Beasley of Wallace, and Ronald (Teresa) Beasley of Callahan, Fla.; three sisters, Janice Beasley, Sue (Lavon) Hodge amd Phillis (Earl) Fuqua, all of Brewton; five grandchildren, Caleb Beasley, Madison Trehern, Jaxon Jordan, Joseph Glenn, John Glenn; and faithful dogs, Maggie and Jack.

Velma Charlotte Blair Haveard

Castleberry

Velma Charlotte Blair Haveard, 78, of Englewood Circle Castleberry, passed away Sun., May 1, 2016, in a local nursing facility after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held today, May 4, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Minister Jack Lunsford officiating.

Interment with will follow in Cooper Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

She was a native and life long resident of Escambia County. She was a member of the Appleton Church of Christ and a retired seamstress from Judy Bond with 20-plus years of service.

She is survived by her four sons, Leo Haveard, Tony Haveard, Randy (Nancy) Haveard, all of Castleberry, and Wade Haveard of Flomaton; two brothers, Frazier Blair of Jacksonville, Fla., and Frederick Blair of Castleberry; three sisters, Julia Sammons of Castleberry; Hazel Bell of Range, and Rachel Milstead of Castleberry; 17 grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Edward Haveard, Sr.; and son, Donald Ray Haveard.

Cleavie Stone

Mobile

Cleavie Stone, 98, passed away Sat., April 30, 2016, in a Mobile health care facility.
Visitation will be held at Craver’s Funeral Home on today, May 4, from 11 a.m. until 12:15 p.m.

Graveside funeral services will follow at Damascus Cemetery at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas White officiating and Craver’s Funeral Home directing.

She was born in Damascus, and had been a resident of Mobile since 1957. She was a homemaker and was a member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elyson Stone; two sisters, Ida Bell Owens and Myra Ward; and two brothers, George Mantel and Urban Ward.

She is survived by a son, Stanley Stone of Mobile; daughter, Shirley Kittrell of Mobile; two sisters, Mary Dutcher of Fresno, Calif., and Marie Knauer of New Orleans, La.; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
