Brewton 8U softball fall to CC in title game

Brewton 8U girl’s softball earned second place in the state tournament in Andalusia this past weekend after falling to Covington County in the championship round, 26-13.

 

Brewton 15, Roanoke 0

Brewton opened the game with four runs in the first inning. Through four innings Brewton scored 10 runs.

Roanoke finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, scoring three runs.

Brewton responded in the fifth inning with another big inning, tallying five runs. Roanoke scored a run in the bottom of the inning and was held scoreless in the sixth.

Hailey Terrell, Alivia Sherrer, Edie Walker and Kylee Walton had four hits each to lead Brewton.  Walton and Amberlyn Carnley both had three RBIs to lead the team.

 

Brewton 18, East Brewton 8

With the score 5-4 in favor of Brewton in the top of the third inning, Brewton scored 13

unanswered runs to the six inning. Down 18-4, East Brewton held hopes in getting a rally started. East Brewton scored four runs but found itself in too deep of a hole to mount a comeback.

Meg Fountain, Hailey Terrell and Claire Smith were 4-for-4 at the plate for Brewton. Kaylee Patterson and Edie Walker had three hits.

Aly Sheffield was 3-for-3 at the plate to lead East Brewton. Jenna Stinson, Ava Stuckey and Kadence Wood had two hits. Stuckey and Wood both scored two runs. Maddie Mealer, Karrie Cutts, Paris Howard, Gracie Merritt and Zoey Baker all had a hit.

 

Covington County 23, Brewton 14

Runs were aplenty for both teams in the third round of the state tournament. At the end of three innings Brewton led CC, 12-8. CC turned on the jets in the final three innings of play, scoring 15 runs and holding Brewton to only two.

Hailey Terrell was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored to lead Brewton at the plate. Edie Walker and Kylee Walton were both 4-for-4.

 

Lineville 11, Brewton 16

Brewton staved off elimination by holding off a Lineville rally in the fifth inning.

Claire Smith and Kylie Walton each had two RBIs. Hailey Terrell was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Meg Fountain was 4-for-4 with a run scored.

 

Brewton 25, CC 16

With the score tight, 13-12, in favor of Brewton, Brewton exploded for 12 runs in the sixth inning. CC scored four runs in the bottom of the inning.

Meg Fountain, Edie Walker and Amberlyn Carnley were all 5-for-5 at the plate to lead the team. Walker led the team with four runs scored. Hailey Terrell, Kylee Walton and Alivia Sherrer were all 4-for-5 at the plate.

 

CC 26, Brewton 13

It was another high scoring game for the championship. CC led Brewton 12-7 at the end of three innings. CC outscored Brewton 14-6 over the final three innings to win the state title.

Kylee Walton was 4-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Meg Fountain was 5-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Hailey Terrell was 4-for-5 with two runs scored. Claire Smith was 4-for-4. Alivia Sherrer, Kaylee Patterson, and Amberlyn Carnley each had three hits. Payton Hardy, Callie Mae Kent and Logan Pettis had two hits. Pettis had an RBI. Lindsey Jennings had a hit.
