Gary Lee Fuqua

Brewton

Gary Lee Fuqua, 73, of Ashley Street in Brewton, passed away Wed., Nov. 23, 2016, in a Pensacola, Fla. hospice facility after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Nov. 26, at 11 a.m. at the Bethel Community Mennonite Church with the Rev. John Kemp officiating. Interment followed in Bethel Community Mennonite Church Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He was a native and life long resident of Brewton. He was a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church. He attended W.S. Neal High School, was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran, and a retired Corrections Officer from the state of Alabama with more than 10 years of service.

He is survived by daughter, Stacey Fuqua (Mark) Surles of Brewton; god daughter, Megan Green of California; brother, John Leonard Fuqua of Canton, Ga.; sister, Christie Eiland of Brewton; and three grandchildren, Riley Surbs, Julianna Surles and Lilianne Surles.

He is preceded in death by parents, Elie and Alice Haveard Fuqua.

Johnny Wayne Watson

Pollard

Johnny Wayne Watson, 65, of Old Wolf log Road in Pollard passed away Wed., Nov. 23, 2016, at Joyce Goldenburg Hospice in Pensacola, Fla., due to a terminal illness.

No service will be held. Interment will be in Pollard.

He was a native and life long resident of Pollard. He was self employed and heavy machinery operator for most of his life.

He was preceeded in death by his mother, Willie Lou Moye Finlay; and father, J.T. Watson.

He is survived by his life companion, Anita Nichols; daughter, Diana Renee Watson Smith (Lance) McInnish; son, Johnny Wayne Watson II; daughter, April Renee Watson (Tom) Jones; step-son, Sam Nichols; and sisters, Judy M. McCall and Cindy Finlay (Greg) Fleming.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Joyce Goldenburg Hospice.

Billy Dewayne Blair

Brewton

Billy Dewayne Blair, 65, of Pineview Street, passed away Mon. Nov. 28, 2016, in a local hospital after a brief illness.

Visitation will be held Thurs., Dec. 1,  from 10 a.m. until 11a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thurs., Dec. 1, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Clifton Buchannan officiating. Interment will follow in Cooper Cemetery, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home direccting.

He was a native and life long resident of Brewton, and a former truck driver.

He is survived by two sisters, Martha West of Brewton and Wanda Blair of Castleberry; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his  parents, Jesse and Bertie Lister Blair; his wife, Estelle Barbarow Blair; an infant daughter; four brothers, Ervie Lee Blair, Douglas Blair, Willie Blair and Robert Blair; a sister, Wilerdean Blair; and a great-nephew.

Tegina Carolyn Pitts

Brewton

Tegina Carolyn Pitts, 48, of Alco Drive Brewton, passed away Fri., Nov. 25, 2016, in a local hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Mon., Nov. 28, at 2 p.m. at the Brewton Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Leon Stewart and the Rev. Gary Turner officiating. Interment followed in Weaver Cemetery in  Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

She was a native of Fort Valley, Ga., a former resident of Georgia and a long time resident of Brewton. She was a member of the Brewton Pentecostal Church and was a former school teacher for the Mobile County School System.

She is survived by her father, the Rev. Byrnes (Mary) Pitts of Brewton; a son, Bryant Pitts of Summerdale, Ala.; five brothers, Lloyd (Gwen) Pitts of Spanish Fort, Leon (Regina) Pitts of Louisiana, Joey (Miriam) Pitts and Robert (Tracey) Pitts, both of Brewton, and Julian Pitts of Valley; and 12 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nell Singleton Pitts.
