BOE OKs salary schedules

The Escambia Co. Board of Education took care of some last- minute business at its Thursday evening meeting.

The board approved the following items:

• Approved the 2018-2019-salary schedule and the 2.5 percent state-mandated. The board also changed contract days for CNP managers from a 202-day contract to 187 days.

• Approval of revised policy 7.9.1 for an early education leave. Where students will have the opportunity to exit high school if they have successfully completed all the requirements necessary to earn an Alabama High School diploma. This will also allow students the opportunity to enter college or career programs early.

The Board also discussed and approved for a new rooftop on the new W.S. High School building, a male athletic building plus an auditorium and a female athletic building.

Board Member Mike Edwards made the motion that the board’s approval that the superintendent be authorized in his discretion to take whatever appropriate legal action is necessary to protect the boards interest regarding the completion of the WS Neal High School project.

Board Member Coleman Wallace made a motion to approve for a Odyssey Academy Program for a full Virtual School option for students for the 2018-19 school year to include 500 semester course enrollments at $200 each for a total of $100,000, and authorization to add additional semester course enrollments as needed for active students enrollment. The motion was second by Board Member Kevin Hoomes and was unanimously approved.
