Frances Joann Harrison was born to the late Hubert and Queen Ester Harrison in Pensacola, Fla.,  on Aug.  23, 1942. Her earthly life ended Wednesday, Mar. 25, 2020.

“Joann”, as she was affectionately called, submitted her life to Christ at an early age and joined Baptist Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Brewton. Joann attended primary and secondary schools in Brewton and attended Booker T. Washington High School in Pensacola, Fla.

After high school Joann married Sellars “CJ” Johnson and they eventually moved to Oxnard, Calif. Joann attended Ventura Community College in Southern Calif. and held many jobs until her retirement later in life from IBM in Northern Calif.

While living in California, Joann joined and served at St. Paul Baptist Church in San Jose, Calif. Joann enjoyed cooking, passionately talking with friends and family and styling hair. When Joann retired from IBM she moved back to Brewton to be closer to her mother and other family members. To fill her free time, Joann styled hair and worked part-time as a housekeeper. She also enjoyed decorating her home and gardening in her yard.

Joann is remembered by most as a woman who was never short on words, opinions, advice, and laughter. She will be missed.
