BREWTON, ALA.

Mr. Allen “Doug” Douglas Pettis, 88, of Brewton passed away Saturday May 9, 2020, in a Century, Fla., nursing facility after a brief illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County, Ala.
Mr. Pettis was a member of the Pleasant Home Holiness Church. He attended Wallace School, graduated from W.S. Neal High School and was a retired Millwright from Container Corporation with 40 plus years of service. He was a founding member of the Wallace Volunteer Fire Department, he enjoyed farming and raising cattle.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Hale Pettis of Brewton; two sons-,Theron (Tammy) Pettis of Rutledge, Ala.; and Adrian Pettis of Dothan, Ala.; one daughter, LaCresha (Kyle) Hayes of Brewton; two grandchildren, Emma Claire Hayes and Brody Hayes.
Mr. Pettis is preceded in death by his parents, Solomon and Clara Morris Pettis; his brothers, Leonard Pettis, Cleve Pettis, Howard Pettis, Coley Pettis and Clause Pettis; his sisters, Essie Mae Chavers and Voncile Chavers.
Graveside Services were scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at 11AM at the Hanberry Cemetery with Rev. AD Hale and Rev. Gam Graves officiating.
Interment followed in Hanberry Cemetery Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.
Pallbearers were LaPrade Pettis, James Chavers, David Chavers, Elton Chavers, Mitchell Chavers and Charles Jackson.
