In an effort to avoid what was expected to be a serious weather weekend in Brewton. officials at T.R. Miller High School moved Homecoming activities to Thursday ahead of Hurricane Delta’s landfall expected on Friday evening.
The homecoming parade was met with perfect weather for the afternoon (see photos from the parade on page 14 of today’s paper), but the weather for the pre-game and game play Thursday evening was not quite as cooperative.
Homecoming pre-game festivities included the crowning of the 2020 Homecoming Queen Treniti Blount, as well as the presentation of her court.
Escorts and on-field staff for the evening used umbrellas to protect the royal court during the presentation festivities.
Band members were seen wearing weather-resistant ponchos during the game and during the half-time show for the evening.
Fans weathered the evening to show their support for the team, including returning alumni.
The T.R. Miller Tigers will be able to recupperate from an evening in the rain with a bye week this week. With no game planned for Friday, or any other day this week for the Tigers, they have ample time to prepare for their next game on Friday, October 23 against the Flomaton Hurricanes. The game will be played in Flomaton with a kick-off time set for 7 p.m.
