Mrs. Mary Jean Fuqua Hoomes, 87, of Ashton Street in East Brewton passed away Friday night, December 11, 2020 in a local hospital after a brief illness.

She was a native and life long resident of Brewton. Mrs. Hoomes was a member of the Brewton Church of Christ, a 1950 graduate of W.S. Neal High School, she worked at Price Lumber Company in Castleberry for 10 years, and worked as a waitress at Ole Willies for 20 plus years and was a homemaker. She enjoyed raising flowers, and her time at The Meadows where she loved everyone and everyone loved her and she especially enjoyed winning Bingo games.

She is survived by one son, Jo Jo (Regina) Hoomes of Brewton; two daughters, Deborah (David) Billingsley of Millbrook, and Jan (Stan) Abrams of Pace, Fla.; two grandchildren, Dennis Fuqua and Tyler Hoomes; one great-grandchild, Emma Grace Fuqua.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Shrley and Mollie Mae Howard Fuqua; her husband, James Hoomes; a son, Jimbo Hoomes; two brothers, Gerald Fuqua and Ellis Fuqua; and two sisters, Jackie Mootes and Sue Frazier.

Graveside services were held Monday afternoon, December 14, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fort Crawford Cemetery with Bro. Bernie Raines officiating. Interment followed in Fort Crawford Cemetery in East Brewton.

Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
