Today is the deadline to nominate someone as the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce’s “Citizen of the Year.”

Judy Crane, the chamber’s executive director, said Tuesday that all nominations must be turned in by 5 p.m.

“A citizen of the year can be from a civic or business perspective,” Crane said. “They must have lived in the Brewton area for at least three years, and they must be nominated. So if you want to send in a nominations, you must tell us why they are deserving. You can’t give us just a name, because the committee might not know them.”

Crane said nominations can be hand-delivered to the chamber office in city hall or sent via email to jcrane@brewtonchamber.com. Also, tickets remain on sale for the March 11 event, which will be held at 6 p.m. at the Brewton Country Club. Tickets are $35 per person and tables are available for groups upon request.

Crane said the format for the night will feature a social hour, silent auction, dinner and great entertainment by “Three on a String.” “For the past several years, we had a guest speaker, which was great,” she said. “This year, we decided to go a different route and have entertainment. This group has been here before and was very well received. They are very good at what they do.”

Three on a String is a comedy group featuring music and other entertainment, Crane said. For more information or tickets, contact Crane at 251.867.3224.
