Mamie Lynch “Big Mama” Weaver

Mrs. Mamie Lynch Weaver, 93, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, in a local hospital after an extended illness. She was a native of Escambia County and a long-time resident of Conecuh County. She was employed for many years with the Conecuh County Co-op and the Escambia County Co-op. She was a member of the Holly Grove Methodist Church and was a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Carey Weaver; a daughter, Mary Evelyn Weaver and a son, Horace Weaver.
She is survived by two sons, Fenlick (Myra) Weaver and Olan (Jeanette) Weaver, both of Castleberry; a daughter-in-law, Sue Weaver of Castleberry; a sister, Ruby Gibson of Macon, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Tammy (Jerry) Darby, Teresa Weaver, Jamey Weaver, Tony (Peggy) Weaver and Robin Meier, all of Castleberry, Rita (Donnie) Baggett of Atmore, Joey (Karen) Weaver of Auburn, and Jerri (Todd) Taylor of Prattville; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and four step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held May 30, at 10:30 a.m. at Holly Grove Methodist Church in Castleberry with the Rev. John Whitfield and the Rev. Thomas Smith officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Joey Weaver, Jamey Weaver, Tony Weaver, Jerry Darby, Donnie Baggett, Corrie Gibson, Ryan Meier and Todd Taylor.
