Classic hosts 96 golfers in field at Country Club of Brewton

The Brewton Ladies Golf Association held their annual Blueberry Classic Invitational last week at the Country Club of Brewton.
The Blueberry Classic Invitational is in its 28th year of existence and featured six flights of eight teams of two in each flight.
The Invitational featured 96 spots in the tournament with all 96 spots being filled up early.
Ladies from Crestview, FL., Monroeville, Mobile, Montgomery, Daphne, Gulf Shores, and Brewton participated in the tournament with over 21 clubs in the area represented at the Classic.
The tournament was played Thursday, June 5 at the Country Club of Brewton at 9 a.m. with a complimentary lunch being held.
In addition to the meals, prizes and blueberries were handed out to everyone in attendance.
Winners in the flights were, in the championship flight Nancy Welch and Dean Williams took the win with a 67. In flight one, Janice Cheatham and Pat Martin took first place with 72.
In flight two, Barbara Wilkerson and Terry Pierson took first place with 75. Michelle Kilgore and Pat Goodlife won the third flight with 75.
In flight four, Sandra Johnson and Marie Harvey took first place with an 82 and in the fifth and final flight, Karen Reynolds and Beverly Marrow took first place with an 82.
Other awards were given for hole-in-ones and closest to the pin and longest drives on particular holes.
Karen Reynolds, president of the local LGA, said in an earlier quote that the event was a big draw for Brewton.
Judy Brown, vice president of the local LGA said in an earlier interview of the 96 golfers who participated, only 12 were from the Brewton area.
