With only two races on the ballot, local Republican leaders hope voters will go to the polls for a runoff Tuesday.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to decide who will be the Republican nominee candidate for two statewide offices - Court of Criminal Appeals judge, place No. 1, and president of the Public Service Commission.
No local races are on the ballot.
Beth Kellum and Lucie McLemore are the candidates for the judgeship, and Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh and Matt Chancey for the office of president of the Public Service Commission.
Winners will move on to the Nov. 7 general election.
Jackie Gay, secretary of the Escambia County Executive Republican Committee, forecast low turnout but stressed the election's importantance.
The Alabama Public Service Commission is a body of three elected members, a president and two commissioners, who each serve four-year terms. The commission is primarily charged with setting the rates that utility companies are allowed to charge and profits companies can receive.
Michael Watson, treasurer of the Escambia County Executive Committee, expects a small turnout.
