Will you shop at the new Walmart Supercenter?
And if you do, will it affect other local businesses?
Some Brewton shoppers know they will probably buy groceries and other items at the new store, scheduled to open at the end of this month, but they also plan to continue doing business with other local stores.
Piggly Wiggly employees Becky Cain and Tracy Walker know they will probably shop at Walmart, but they are hoping that the new store - which will have groceries in addition to the items at the current Walmart - will not affect their own employer.
City officials and Walmart representatives believe that the expanded store will draw customers from the region, not just from Brewton.
Walker agreed.
Ellie Hammac works in the Kut N Up hair salon. Although the new business will have a salon, she doesn't think it will hurt their business.
Derwin Brye said the coming of the new store will not affect him. He plans to keep his old shopping habits.
But some shoppers said they plan to avoid the new Supercenter.
Karen Crottrell said she didn't expect to shop there a lot.
