Mrs. Mildred Byrd Kent, 68, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at her daughter’s residence in Bay Minette, after an extended illness. She was a native of Escambia County and a longtime resident of Conecuh County. She was a member of Glory Hill Holiness Church and a homemaker.
She is survived by a daughter, Janet (Billy) Brown of Bay Minette; a brother, Percy Lavon Byrd of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Lecia May Byrd Johnson and Frances Virginia (Bill) Smith, both of Flomaton; three step-sisters, Dell Trawick of Perdido, Dorothy Jean Trawick of Georgia, and Annie Laura Phillips of Jay, Fla.; one half-brother, Lamar Byrd of Flomaton; three grandchildren, Tonya (Randy) Bryars, Sherry (Coleman) Jones and Rhonda Brown; three  great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Cooper and the Rev. Jim Johnson officiating. Burial followed at New Hopewell Cemetery in Castleberry, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
