A Federal Emergency Management Agency representative met with Escambia County commissioners Monday to update them on plans to mitigate projects created from flooding in
December 2009.
Tony Williams with FEMA told commissioners more than 140 projects had been written with a price tag of more than $4 million expected to be paid through FEMA.
Projects currently on the county's mitigation list include bridges and road repair or replacement on County Road 69 (Damascus Road), Cowpen Creek Road, North Canoe Road, Smith Dairy Road, Old Foshee and Madden-Smith Loop.
County Engineer Bill Bridges said the funds expected from FEMA are a blessing for the county.
