TRM track teams take first at home

The T.R. Miller boys and girls track teams both claimed wins at a home track meet Thursday.
The Lady Tigers posted 242 points to claim first in the six-team meet.
The next closest opponent for T.R. Miller was J.U. Blacksher with 19 followed by Monroe County with 15, Escambia County with 14, Opp with 10, and Jackson with nine points.
The T.R. Miller boys took first place with 186 points followed by Monroe County with 62, Escambia County with 34, Jackson with 27, J.U. Blacksher with nine points, and Opp with two.
T.R. Miller finished in first place in the 4×100 relay with a time of 45.20. They also finished first in the 4×800 relay with a time of 9:43 and second in the 4×400 with a time of 4:29.23.
Individual winners for the boys’ team included: Terez Lane in the 100/110 hurdles with a time of 15.82, Kori Jackson in the 100-meter dash, Brandon Nelson in the 1600-meter run, Madden McCall in the 400-meter dash, Anthony Herbert in the 200-meter dash, Johntae Brown in the discus and shot put, Lane in the high jump, triple and long jump.
Ryland Dixon took first place in the javelin and Dakota Shultz took first place in the pole vault.
In girls’ track, T.R. Miller finished first in the 4×800 relay with a time of 11:34. They also finished first in the 3200-meter run and also took second place. In the 4×100-meter relay, the Lady Tiger team placed first and second.
Taylor Guthrie finished first in the 100/110 hurdles along with the 300-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash and triple jump.
Karisa Nelson took first in the 1600-meter run and Shelby Youngblood placed first in the 400-meter dash. Nelson also took first in the 800-meter run.
Keydra Shedrone placed first in the shot put and Lateysia Montgomery placed first in the high jump.
Lauren Bradley scored first in the long jump and Leah Brundidge placed first in the javelin. Youngblood rounded out the Lady Tigers with a first place in the pole vault.
The Tigers will host another home track meet Thursday at home at 3:30 p.m.
The meet will be held at Brewton Municipal Stadium.
