Philip Merton Ellis

Mr. Philip Merton Ellis, 59, of Ridge Road, died Monday, July 12, 2010, at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native of Evergreen and a former resident of Auburn before moving to Escambia County in 1972. He was a member of the Brewton First Presbyterian Church and was employed at W.S. Neal High School for 38 years and principal for the past 21 years. He is a member of the Alabama Cattleman’s Association and Alabama FFA Alumini Assocation.

He is survived by his wife, Saundra Williams Ellis of Brewotn; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Ellis of Atlanta, Ga. and Karen Ailean (Paul) Castleberry of Auburn; a brother, Jimmy Darnell (Becky) Ellis of Evergreen and a sister, Janice Lynn Ellis (Joey) Varner of Evergreen.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the W.S. Neal High School Auditorium in East Brewton.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 16, at 11 a.m. at W.S. Neal High School Auditorium with the Rev. John Mathieu and the Rev. Danny Benjamin officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Evergreen with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
