An effort is under way to have downtown Brewton listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which, if successful, could entitle commercial property owners to receive federal grants, loans and tax incentives.
Alabama Power Co. district manager Joe Webb of Atmore presents Bernie Fogarty of Brewton a five-year service award. Fogarty is residential energy services representative with Alabama Power's Brewton office.
Mary Gwynne Green became the bride of Joseph Clarence Shell in an evening ceremony on Nov. 30.
The Chamber of Commerce has set is annual banquet for Jan. 22 at the Brewton Country Club.
Mr. and Mrs. Pete Merchant hosted a Christmas dinner at their Hart Street home in East Brewton Saturday.
The annual Christmas get-together of the children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam R. Coale was held Christmas day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A.K. Williams on Franklin Avenue.
