Mr. Freeman Ealon Summers, 82, of Ridge Road, died early Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, in a local nursing home after an extended illness. He was a native of Holly Springs, Ark., long time resident of Flint, Mich., where he was a retired inspector with Fisher Body Works General Motors Corporation, before moving to Brewton in 1986. He was of the Baptist faith, a U.S. Coast Guard veteran having served in WW II, a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Eastern Star and Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by one son, Eddie L. (Debra) Summers of Flint, Mich.; four daughters, Delorice (Rodney) Merritt of Benson Ariz., Brenda (Gary) Meadows of Lakeland, Fla., Linda (Ron) Light of Grand Blanc, Mich., and Janice (Joe) Jackson of Pensacola, Fla.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Headley officiating. Burial followed at Weaver Cemetery on Appleton Road with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
