United Fund tops '05 goal

The Greater Brewton Area United Fund surpassed its goal of $90,000 for the 2005 campaign, raising approximately $100,000 for local organizations.
United Fund board president Mark Manning said members of his board are most appreciative of the local support.
United Fund's agencies include Kid One Transport, Brewton Area YMCA, American Red Cross-East Escambia County Chapter, Girl Scouts-Deep South Council, Brewton Public Library, Brewton Parks and Recreation Department, Escambia County Mental Health Association, Boy Scouts-Gulf Coast Council, East Brewton Youth Sports, Southwest Alabama Mental Health/Mental Retardation Board, Escambia County Cooperative Library System, Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Disabled Children and Adults-Brewton Chapter and Christian Community Benevolent Fund.
United Fund gives more than 99 cents of every dollar it raises to 14 local agencies.
