Mrs. Kristy Leeanne Mantel Steele, 35, of Upton Road in Century, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at a local hospital after an extended illness. She was a native and long-time resident of Brewton, before moving to Century. She was a secretary with Trus Joist McMillan Company and a member of Cedar Hill Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Iva Lee and Walter Mantel and James Quentin Howington, and her step-brother, Tim Williams.
She is survived by Durwood (Ellen) Mantel of East Brewton; Ann Howington Mantel of Brewton; a son, Josh Cannon of Jay, Fla.; Rusty and Crystal Peacock of Century and Opal Lee Bondurant of Flomaton.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Hill Methodist Church with the Rev. Floyd Dyal officiating. Burial followed at Fort Crawford Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
