The Head Start Program is now accepting applications for children ages three to five for the 2005-2006 program year.
The National Head Start Association is a non-profit, federally-funded program dedicated to meeting the needs of Head Start children and their families. More than 2.1 million pre-school aged children have benefited from the program, and more than 120 participated in Escambia County last year.
The program represents more than 900,000 children, 190,000 staff and nearly 2,700 Head Start programs are in effect throughout the United States, according to NHSA officials.
According to a Head Start news release, a birth certificate, blue immunization record, insurance card, and proof of child's disability are needed for registration. Parents or guardians also need to bring social security cards for all household members and proof of income; W-2, 1040,1040A, 1099 or current pay stub.
