Mr. Lonnie Luvern Lashley, 71, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, in Century. He was a native and former resident of Apalachicola, Fla., and a resident of Century for the past 45 years. He was retired from the Florida Highway Patrol after serving from 1959 to 1979, the former chief of police of the Century Police Department, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and attended Beulah Chapel Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Lee Lashley of Byrneville, Fla.; two sons, Edwin Luvern Lashley and Steven Allen Lashley, both of Century; his daughter, Teresa Gaynell Bethea of Byrneville; a brother, Ronnie Rudean Lashley of East Point, Fla.; two sisters, Lyndal Lee Lashley of Apalachicola, and Mary Virginia Pace of Century; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 10 a.m. at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Shelton Kindig officiating. Burial will follow at Beulah Chapel Cemetery with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers will be the Florida Highway Patrol and the honorary pallbearer will be Troy Brown.
